“Su Carrasegare” Beyond the Masks will accompany you in an exciting journey of discovery of the beliefs and rites of pre-Christian Sardinia. You will see powerful images of the archaic masks and costumes still used today during Carnival, su Carrasegare, in the villages of Barbagia in the Sardinian island. The etymological study of the origin of Sardinian words assists us recapture the long lost meanings associated with these haunting masks, costumes and rituals.

Luca Pisci (1986) has always been fascinated by the mysteries of his native land, Sardinia. He is currently engaged in a major project devoted to Sardinian culture, of which this exhibition is part. (lucapisci.com)
Paola Steri is an Italian graphic designer, originally from Sardinia, who has been living in Melbourne since 2016. She has organised events for the Sardinia Region and various institutions and is the founder of the network Creativi a Melbourne (paolasteri.com).

MOSTRA FOTOGRAFICA SU CARRASEGARE - Oltre le maschere ti accompagnerà in un’entusiasmante vaiggio alla scoperta delle credenze e dei riti della Sardegna precristiana. Vedrai immagini potenti delle maschere e costumi arcaici che ancora oggi sono usati durante il Carnevale, su Carrasegare, nei villaggi della Barbagia. Lo studio etimologico dell'origine delle parole sarde ci aiuta a riscoprire i significati perduti associati a queste maschere, costumi e affascinanti rituali.

Luca Pisci (1986) è sempre stato affascinato dai misteri della sua terra natale, la Sardegna. Attualmente è impegnato in un importante progetto dedicato alla cultura sarda, di cui questa mostra è parte (lucapisci.com).
Paola Steri è una graphic designer italiana, originaria della Sardegna, che vive a Melbourne dal 2016. Ha lavorato in eventi per la Regione Sardegna e varie istituzioni ed è la fondatrice della rete Creativi a Melbourne (paolasteri.com).
